Mi Cabina - My Little Cabin

If you have never taken one of Ricky's online quilt classes, this is a great time to start. The class runs for a short three weeks and the quilt is quick, easy, and fun.

Mi Cabina, By Ricky Tims, 70.5" x 80.5"

Mi Cabina (a twin/queen-bed coverlet) is the perfect snuggle quilt for you, but it also makes a great graduation gift or housewarming present. It features a fun variation on a timeless classic - The Log Cabin Courthouse Steps. The design has a scrappy aspect that is unified by a formal design layout. The appliqués featured in the border can be personalized allowing you the option of truly making this quilt your own.

The classes post each Saturday morning and the best part is that you can participate at your own pace in the comfort of your own studio. You will be making the quilt along with other online classmates which means you can interact with them and share photos of your progress!

Many of you have followed the journey of Libby Lehman since her brain aneurism and subsequent stroke. Today is a day to celebrate! Libby is still on the road to recovery, but this video captures the first day she has sewn in 2.5 years!

Read about Sir Lancelot and then take the poll to the right!

This is the 2nd in Ricky's Arthurian Legend Quilt Series. Meet Sir Lancelot! We will begin offering the kit and pattern by the end of October. Take the poll to help Ricky determine pre-sales interest in order to know how much fabric to begin dyeing for the kits. Ricky designed this quilt in elegant, low-contrast and rich autumn colors. It was made by Ricky's late father, Richard Tims, and quilted by Dana Lynch. It is based on a snowball design and only uses two sizes of squares to make the quilt. It's easy peasy - but still stunning! It measures 83.5" x 83.5".

The kit includes
• PRE-CUT SQUARES from Ricky’s hand-dyed fabric (11.5 yards total) -  includes border and binding fabric.
• Two cones of Superior thread for quilting (Fantastico for top, Bottom Line for bobbin)
• The pattern (also sold separately).

The kit is a $339 value but will be offered for ONLY $239 - which is 30% off. The kit value does not include the cutting and packaging time. Just think of the time you will save by not cutting anything other than the borders and binding for this project. Ricky will also have video lessons to accompany the project.

We're heading to New York City this week for Quilter's Take Manhattan!

Quilters Take Manhattan spans three days and this year, the main event on Saturday, held at the Fashion Institute of Technology, will double in venue space.

2015 add-on events this year include:

• behind-the-scenes tours with the Met Museum and the American Folk Art Museum

• workshops,

• tours of the garment district

• and a Broadway outing.

I am headlining the 2015 main event, to be held on September 26 from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm at the Fashion Institute of Technology, presenting a lecture titled, “Let the Art Find You”.

I will be talking about my first career as a musician, and how I wound up finding fame and joy in quilting. I’ll encourage the audience to take risks with their own work, and provide advice on how to get to the next level of personal achievement, whatever your goals may be. I hope you can join me!

There are still tickets available to the main event at FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) and to some of the workshops and tours. For more information, contact QTM here.

Woohoo! I'm very excited to share with you some wonderful events happening in La Veta this coming June! You'll want to mark your calendars and plan a visit to our unique little mountain town to see a local production of "The Quilters" and a special exhibition of quilts made by world renown quilters such as David Taylor, Alex Anderson, Libby Lehman, myself and more! Justin Shults and myself have collected quilts over the past decade or so. The quilts on exhibit are from our private collection.

For tickets to the play, visit the website for the Francisco Center for the Performing Arts in La Veta. The play features “The Legacy Quilt” which I designed (shown below) and was made by members of the Colorado Quilting Council. The quilt will be raffled at the end of the last performance and all proceeds will go to the Francisco Center for the Performing Arts.
